Career Multiverse™
I recently had a conversation with someone about the future of college education.
We don’t need to get into all the details of what is wrong with college education today, but a few major areas are worth highlighting:
Outdated or irrelevant curricula
Teaching styles that don’t match how people learn best
Political extremism coming from both sides of the spectrum, limiting professors’ ability to teach
Tuition costs that have skyrocketed in the past 20+ years
Opportunity costs of being a full-time student
It sounds bad, and it is, but the future of education is bright.
I’ve mentioned in the past that I have taken a countless number of courses outside of my formal degrees. By now, I have experienced nearly every variation of in-person and online education. However, there is one version that I have not seen until now.
I’m currently taking a course on how to create courses. How meta is that? 🙂
This course is unlike anything I have taken before. It is called Experience Product Masterclass, and it combines the most powerful elements of gamification, learning theory, and the psychology of motivation. It creates, as the name implies, an experience. It provides support, unlike anything I have ever seen.
What Marisa Murgatroyd, the creator of this program, has done can serve as a model for the future of education. This education is more engaging, relevant, reasonably priced, supportive, and just overall, more effective.

The problem is that our education system was designed for a different age. If we are going to fix it, it has to be done at a systems level.
This video, and better yet, the entire paper on which this video is based, is a roadmap for what we could do to create a new education system. I’ve re-read the paper many times and have taken extensive notes as well. It gives me hope that whatever issues we face in education today are all fixable.

The fact that the modern education system destroys the love of learning from nearly everyone who attends traditional schools is my biggest issue with schools today.
Thank you for reading!
