Can Do #14: Pics from Berlin
Welcome to the 14th edition of Can Do, a newsletter where I share my journey of building a Career Multiverse™.
You can also read my previous editions and follow me on Twitter.
I am traveling this week. Instead of following the regular format of this newsletter, I will talk about my favorite museum in Germany.
I first visited Futurium in 2019, shortly after it opened. I was utterly mesmerized by this museum and spent hours there. Nearly three years later, it was the first place we visited when we arrived in Germany last week.
Everything at Futurium revolves around the question: how do we want to live?
It is a fantastic museum from the design perspective and the user experience. But what truly sets it apart from every other museum I have ever visited and why I love Futurium so much is its content.
Most museums are reflections of the past. They display artifacts from years or even centuries ago. While it is wise to learn from our history, it is not enough.
As Gary Hamel and Michele Zanini said:
“We live in a world of accelerating change, where the future is less and less an extrapolation of the past.”
Futurium, as the name implies, is all about imagining the future and understanding what actions we need to take today.
Walking around Futurium makes you think. Not only is it an exciting and fun place, but it is also a place where you feel a sense of urgency to build the kind of future we would feel proud to leave for our kids.
I feel so strongly about Futurium’s mission that I have been communicating with the museum’s Head of Exhibitions about the possibility of bringing Futurium to the U.S.
Thank you for reading!
Next week, I will be back discussing my Career Multiverse journey.
